Location / How to get get there.

Henry's Head is located on the next headland east of Bare Island.
It is easy to spot as there is a white lighthouse on it.
The site is only accessible by boat.

Local creatures.

The local marine life is everything you would expect of Botany Bay and much more.
On a typical dive here, you will see weedy sea dragons, cuttlefish, groper and schools of fish circling above.
The whole area is completely untouched due to the inaccessibility of this site.
The sponge growth is spectacular and the colours are unreal.
Vince Fenech, one of our most experienced divers (over 40 years) says that the growth here is just like Bare Island over 30 years ago.

Experience Level.

Depending on conditions, this site offers everything for the beginner to the advanced diver.

Best time to dive.

High tide is the best time to dive with the clearer water coming in from the ocean.
Low tide is also ok but avoid a tide which is running out as the currents can get severe.

Where to enter/exit.

The entry is usually made from the boat well before the point as this allows divers to test the current as they swim towards the point.

Navigation.

This is very simple navigation. Follow the reef keeping it on your left out towards the point and reverse this on the return leg.
Distance estimation can be difficult so try not to swim further than your abilities allow.

Points of interest.

The many boulders covered with intricate and delicate sponge life. It really is a garden of Eden out there.

Tips (from the pro)

Try to pick a small area and study it closely. There is so much to see that it is all too easy to swim past it all.
Be careful when approaching the point. Test he current and head back immediately if you sense the current building.
