Julianne's

Written by Px (Instructor SDA)

Location / How to get get there.

Julianne's divesite is the next cutting north of Little Bay.
It is accessed by parking near Bilga Crescent and walking across the golf course and down a steep slope and boulder field.

Local creatures.

On a typical dive you will see many schooling fish, cuttlefish and mnay varieties of weed dwelling fish.

Amenities.

None

Experience Level.

Advanced Only

Best time to dive.

As always, high tide is best.
Westerly winds make for perfect diving in this area.
Beware of changes in the tide here as Little Bay is just around the corner and can create currents.
The swell can be a real problem here.

Where to enter/exit.

Walk down the slope, across the boulders and enter the water immediately in front of you.
The whole area is a steep gorge and it is fairly obvious where to enter.

Navigation.

The whole area here is largely unexplored but from the couple of dives I have done here, it seems to get more interesting if you head straight out to sea and the northern area is quite picturesque as well.

Points of interest.

Large boulders and rocky areas provide much to see.

Tips (from the pro)

Watch this area for swell. It is very similar to Mahon Pool in its exposure to the prevailing seas.
In a big sea, drive to Little Bay and watch the swells pounding in at Juliannes.
If there is any doubt at all, do not attempt this dive.
