Damon Spooner PADI Open Water Instructor and Tec Dive Master

My name is Damon Spooner born and bred across the ditch in Napier, New Zealand which should give me a head start already!!!

I started Scuba diving in 2007 and have never looked back since (water logged you could say). Trained by Phil McCambridge and Llyle Sawyer both friendly very experienced open water instructors with Sydney Dive Academy. Then moved through my PADI Dive Master and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Course.

I have found the Sea Masters Club here at Sydney Dive Academy a great social club with very friendly people more than willing to pass on valuable diving experience and knowledge and now i take pride in introducing brand new divers to the underwater world as only SDA knows how.

Peter Cross (Director of Diving) is very easy to talk to and is more than willing to help out, if you have no Dive Buddy no problem PX will find a experienced diver with lots of local knowledge for you at what ever level you are.

I’m also what you call a “Tec Freak” – with a passion for Technical deep diving been trained by the Man Peter Cross himself and his professional Tec instructors.

With SDA safety and knowledge comes first.

Favourite Sydney shore dive – The Leap and Bare Island (anywhere really)

Favourite Sydney Night dive location – Camp Cove Sydney Harbour

Favourite Sydney Wreck – Coolooli off Long Reef at 48m depth

Favourite Dive site outside Sydney – Hardy Reef on the Great Barrier Reef

Favourite overseas location – Santo, Vanuatu – SS President Coolidge, the stern at 67m (you gotta go just for the night dive)

Oh yeah and Napier my hometown in New Zealand.
