Technical Scuba Diving With Sydney Dive Academy

At Sydney Dive Academy, not only are we passionate about training beginner divers, but we are just as passionate about continuing education beyond the recreational limits of diving. Sydney Dive Academy offers a very active Technical Diving Club which can either buddy you up with very experienced tech divers, or for those wanting to enter the world of Tech Diving, we can train you as only we know how.

The training begins with SDA’s famous Deep Divers course, where we teach you all about dealing with extra equipment and all the associated issues we come across at depth.

Then we go into the foundations of technical diving, adding skills in regards to computer generated dive planning, Gas Optimisation, Decompression Planning and general wreck and boat diving safety.

Moving on to the famous Sydney Ship Wrecks, we start you diving on wrecks such as the Annie Miller, The SS Tuggerah, the Coolooli, and the Kello to name just a few where you will begin your first journeys into decompression diving. Each time increasing you skill level to deal with longer bottom time and safer Decompression diving practises.

Finally our 100% in house trained Tech instructors will take you on a dive that you will be in control of, this is your certifying dive and we want to make sure you have all the skills to be confident and safe during this extreme style of diving. This is your opportunity to show us what you’ve got.

Once your training is finished, we offer a very active Tech Diving club. Technical Boat dives are run at least twice a month weather permitting and you will join a great bunch of guys and girls who all share the same passion, exploration of deep Sydney wrecks. We meet the Friday evening before each dive to run joint planning sessions, get fills and generally catch up on the latest happenings in the club.

Come the day of the dive it is game on and the extreme diver in us takes over as we descend to depths well beyond the normal recreational diving limits.

The part of our club that stands us out from all the rest stems from our motto “with us its personal” Every one of our Tech Instructors are in house trained by Peter Cross and they have to meet his very exacting standards to achieve these ratings. These instructors, aside from being very capable of training divers, must share in the passion of tech diving and so they are always diving along with the club.
