Welcome to Sydney Dive Academy's Service Bay Our technicians, Craig Duck and Paul Nicholls are trained and qualified to service and repair all major brands of scuba equipment including:
OCEANIC
SCUBAPRO
AQUALUNG
TABATA/TUSA
SHERWOOD
POSEIDON
and many others
This also includes BC's and wetsuit repairs
We can complete the manufacturers warranty cards for all brands if the regualtors are under current warranty
There are 2 regulator service options in our store
1. Inspection Only
In this case the regulator is inspected, line pressures and hoses are checked and adjusted if necessary. Also vaccum checks and pressure checks are carried out as well but generally no parts are used
This is useful in situations where the diver may not have been diving for some time and just wants to know whether their regs are safe to use. COST $60
2. Full Service
A full service means just what it says
The regulator is stripped down, cleaned in our utrasonic bath and re-assembled using all the manufacturers recommended parts. The used parts are kept and given to the customer as evidence of service unless they need to be returned to the manufacturer for a warranty claim.
Obviously this service is more costly and starts around $185 including labour depending on the model and make of the regulator
A quick guide to determining if your regs need a service: Look at the metallic scintered filter on the 1st stage of your regs. If it looks discoloured either greenish or white then this could indicate either salt water or corrosion damage and the regs will need a full service
This is only a rough guide but is indicative of problems
If your regs are free flowing or just dribbling air, then drop them in and we'll check them out for you
Regulator Servicing takes around one week to complete depending on the availability of manufacturer's parts
To give you some idea of what can build up on the inside of your regs, here are a couple of photos from a recent service which looked ok from the outside. Scary? To an untrained eye maybe it doesn't look too bad but if you know what you are looking for, this equipment is in need of urgent repair due to the crusty build up of white and green corrosion. The surfaces are meant to be a shiny metallic finish not white or green. This regulator could have failed to deliver air underwater.

We aslo accept cylinders for hydrostatic testing which takes around one week to complete
NOTE.... All Aluminium cylinders manufactured in 1990 or earlier are not able to be hydro tested. They need to be retired as the compounds they were made from are subject to metal fatigue and possible explosion due to next cracks
