Hi there, I'm Peter Cross (Px) and I'm the owner of Sydney Dive Academy

I started diving way back in 1975 at the ripe old age of 19 (yes they had scuba gear back then :))

My childhood hero was Lloyd Bridges of "Sea Hunt" fame and I was always fascinated by the underwater scenes. I have fond memories of pouring through National Geographic magazines and discovering a wreck divers heaven called Truk Lagoon (Chuuk) and wondering if I could ever dive somewhere as exotic as that.

My brother and myself had been into snorkelling for many years prior and we had always wanted to give it a go. I will never forget the first dive I had at Bushrangers Bay in Shellharbour, completely relaxed, at home and mesmerized by the sparkling water all around me. Even after 6000 dives, this still remains a cherished memory.

Fast foward to the present time and my travels have taken me to many many wonderful destinations around the world, and I have met some incredible people since I started this business in 1988 at Kingsford.

My passion has always been developing divers to their best abilities and I have shared the underwater world with many thousands of students, some even becoming instructors themselves

I have always maintained a love of deep and technical diving and currently hold Instructor Trainer status in technical diving with SSI and Tech Divers International (TDI)

The highlight of my career was obtaining my Instructor Trainer status in 1993 and being awarded the prestigious Platinum Pro 5000 Instructor card.

Even after all these years and the amazing experiences I have had, I still remain at my core an instructor who loves sharing the underwater world with my great team here at SDA and the students we are privileged to train each year.
